Demonstration Test of Goissho, a Welfare and Nursing Care Shared Pick-up and Drop-off Service, Launched in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture – Establishing a New Model Based on Mutual Support Among Day Care Facilities –

Jul. 02, 2026
DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has developed a new model for its welfare and nursing care shared pick-up and drop-off service, Goissho, and has launched a demonstration test in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture.

Under the conventional Goissho model, a nonprofit organization or similar entity served as the operating body, undertaking transportation services and vehicle management across multiple day care facilities. By operating these services jointly, the model contributed to improving operational efficiency at each participating facility. The newly developed business model is based on mutual support within the community, whereby day care facilities outsource and undertake transportation services for one another. In this model, the operating body does not directly manage vehicles, but instead acts as an intermediary between facilities and manages transportation operations using a transportation support system. By reducing the burden on the operating organization, this approach is expected to enable the sustainable provision of shared transportation services even in areas where many care facilities are concentrated, such as Toyonaka City*1.

The demonstration test will be operated by the Toyonaka City Association of Long-Term Care Service Providers and is scheduled to run from July 1 to August 31, 2026, with participation from eight facilities within the city. A total of 20 vehicles across the participating facilities will support one another’s transportation services, with approximately 185 users expected to be served during the period. For transportation requests from outsourcing facilities, the operating body will match these requests with available seating in vehicles from recipient facilities, determine optimal combinations, and present efficient transportation routes to the recipient facilities. In some cases, participating facilities are expected to take on both outsourcing and recipient roles.
Through this demonstration test, Daihatsu will verify improvements in transportation efficiency and the benefits of inter-facility collaboration, while also identifying operational considerations and challenges. The company will evaluate the feasibility of this initiative as a sustainable shared transportation business model. Notably, this is the first initiative in Japan*2 to implement shared transportation through ridesharing among nursing care facilities.

Going forward, Daihatsu will continue contributing to the resolution of regional challenges in the welfare and nursing care sector and to the realization of a sustainable mobility society through services such as Goissho that support local communities.
