Daihatsu Majorly Revamps and Adds New Features to the Inspection Results Voice Input System That Supports Automotive Maintenance

DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has revamped the inspection results voice input system it provides to Daihatsu sales companies and begun rolling out the system under its new name, DAVIS, at sales companies in May 2026.

In recent years, addressing the increasing complexity of maintenance work due to the shortage of mechanics and advancing automotive technology has become an urgent priority. Through standardizing and systematizing the work of mechanics, Daihatsu has been developing the inspection results voice input system to improve work safety and maintenance quality, strengthen compliance systems, promote leveled production (heijunka), and accommodate a diverse maintenance workforce (including those with no prior experience). This system announces inspection items via voice during vehicle inspections and maintenance, while also recognizing mechanics’ voices and automatically entering the results of inspections. Since 2018, it has been introduced at 38 sales companies nationwide and is currently used in approximately 30% of all inspection operations at these sales companies.

<Features of the revamp>

  • In addition to the existing 6-month safety inspection and mandatory 12-month inspection, the system now supports the 24-month inspection (vehicle inspection), which involves a large number of tasks and complex procedures and assessments. This improves inspection quality and reduces the workload on mechanics.
  • By integrating with sales companies’ core customer and vehicle management systems, quote details are automatically reflected.
  • Further efficiency in data entry will continue to be promoted, such as by enabling data import from electronic vehicle inspection certificates.
  • The system has been rebranded as DAVIS (DAIHATSU Voice Inspection System)

Daihatsu will continue to realize a mobility society that enriches the lives of customers, while working to improve efficiency and quality at automotive maintenance sites.
