Oct. 02, 2024
DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has started providing the operation management system and other services for the Goissho shared nursing care transportation service to the Yasu Regional Symbiosis Society Promotion Association (hereinafter “Yasukyo”) in Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture. Using this system, Yasukyo officially started the Goissho Yasu shared transportation service at eight nursing care and other service facilities in the city on October 1, 2024, with an inaugural departure ceremony held on October 2, 2024, at the Yasu City Health and Welfare Center.

Daihatsu has been deploying the new mobility service Goissho in the area of welfare and nursing care as an initiative that aims to solve social issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population as well as contribute to regional revitalization. Goissho is a service that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and secure mobility for the elderly by improving efficiency through outsourcing and the shared operation of transportation services at multiple day-care facilities. The service was launched for local governments nationwide in April 2022. This official operation in Yasu City marks the second municipality using the service following Mitoyo City in Kagawa Prefecture.

Daihatsu has been working with Yasu City since fiscal 2024 to consider the implementation of a shared transportation service. Yasu City, Yasukyo, and Daihatsu conducted a demonstration experiment for Goissho from September 20, 2023, to November 11, 2023, to verify the feasibility of reducing operational burdens, utilize idle vehicles during daytime non-transportation hours, and finalize the operational structure.
For this official operation, Yasukyo will serve as the primary operator, consolidating transportation services for nursing care and other service facilities within the city. Transportation is planned to be provided for a total of 940 passengers per month. Furthermore, as a combination that is a first-of-its-kind initiative nationwide, Yasukyo also plans to implement a shopping support service that utilizes idle vehicles during daytime hours to transport users of the city’s integrated services for nursing care prevention and daily life support to and from facilities such as shopping centers, starting from mid-October.

Daihatsu will continue to work on both MONODUKURI and KOTODUKURI to realize a mobility society that enriches the lives of customers through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.
