DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, on June 21, 2024, to study shared transportation services at nursing care facilities in Sanjo City in order to secure care workers. Based on this agreement, Daihatsu will begin to investigate the acceptability of shared transportation services at nursing care facilities in Sanjo City and study an operating structure that is optimized for the local community.

Daihatsu has been engaged in the development of new mobility services in the area of welfare and nursing care as part of its KOTODUKURI initiative, aiming to solve social issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population as well as regional revitalization to achieve a society where people of any age can freely move around and live comfortably in cooperation with the local community. One of its efforts is Goissho, a shared nursing care transportation service that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and secure transportation for the elderly. Goissho has been offered to local governments nationwide since April 2022 and is currently being used by many people in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture.

Going forward, Daihatsu will proceed to consider shared transportation services involving multiple nursing care facilities based on this partnership agreement by visualizing the operational issues of nursing care facilities, verifying the business feasibility of the operating structure, and supporting the decision to introduce the service. If it is decided to introduce the service, as the next step, Daihatsu plans to support the formulation of a roadmap for the start of operation, creation of an operation flow and manual, implementation of various training programs, and coordination and negotiation with various facilities and transportation operators in order to achieve an operating structure that is optimized to meet local demand.

Daihatsu will continue to work on both MONODUKURI and KOTODUKURI to realize a mobility society that enriches the lives of customers through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.
