Daihatsu fully redesigns its Sirion compact passenger car in Indonesia

P.T. Astra Daihatsu Motor (hereinafter “ADM”), the Indonesian subsidiary of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”), has fully redesigned its Sirion compact car. The new model launched in Indonesia on February 13.

The new Sirion has been made longer and wider than its predecessor, combining stylish design with increased cabin and luggage space. An updated platform have resulted in improved steering stability and NV performance, while the car is equipped with the next-generation 1NR-VE (1.3L) engine, which was developed for ASEAN markets, and comes in a choice of 5MT or 4AT transmissions.
As with previous models, the new Sirion will be produced by Perodua, a joint-venture company between Daihatsu and the Malaysian government. It will be supplied on an OEM basis to ADM, who will sell the vehicle in Indonesia.

Going forward, Daihatsu will continue to promote car making that utilizes the technologies and knowhow it has cultivated through its development of Japanese mini vehicles. The company will also contribute to the spread of automobiles in the ASEAN region and engage in the development of industry and human resources.
