Daihatsu Commences Shared Transportation Service Between Operators in Different Sectors as Part of the Goissho Mitoyo Shared Welfare and Nursing Care Transportation Service in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture

Apr. 01, 2026
DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

As part of the Goissho Mitoyo shared welfare and nursing care transportation service, which operates in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) began providing shared transportation service not only for day services for the elderly but also for after school day services *, which are in a different sector, on April 1, 2026.

Goissho is a mobility service provided by Daihatsu to address social issues. It is a system that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and ensure transportation options for people with mobility challenges by improving operational efficiency through outsourcing and the shared operation of transportation services at multiple day-care facilities. Goissho Mitoyo officially launched in June 2022 as the first case in Japan and has transported more than 45,000 passengers to date. Currently, the local transportation management operator, Mitoyo Transportation System Association MiLAIS, serves as the managing organization, consolidating transportation services while outsourcing operations to local taxi companies.

On April 1, 2026, Daihatsu added one after school day service facility to its shared transportation service and began providing transportation between the facility and the children’s homes. This shared transportation service between operators in different sectors is a pioneering effort. By further streamlining transportation services within the local community, Daihatsu aims to address challenges such as the shortage of drivers and other personnel. While the need for medical treatment and education at after school day services is on the rise, securing personnel is difficult. To help the facilities strengthen their operational structure using existing personnel, Daihatsu provides the shared transportation service and plans to transport approximately 40 children per month in total.

Daihatsu will continue to work toward solving regional challenges in the area of welfare and nursing care and realizing a sustainable mobility society through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.

* After school day services: Outpatient support services provided under the Child Welfare Act for children who require developmental support and use these services after school.
