Daihatsu Conducts a Demonstration Experiment for the Goissho Shared Welfare and Nursing Care Transportation Service in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture

Mar. 02, 2026
DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) started a demonstration experiment for the Goissho shared welfare and nursing care transportation service in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture on March 2, 2026, and on the same day, held a launch ceremony at Kawanishi City Hall.

Goissho is a mobility service provided by Daihatsu to address social issues. It is a system that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and secure mobility for the elderly by improving operational efficiency through outsourcing and the shared operation of transportation services at multiple day-care facilities. Daihatsu began offering the service to local governments nationwide from April 2022, and it is currently in official operation in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, and Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture.

This demonstration experiment is implemented as an AI based operation for shared transportation services, which is a part of the Nursing Care Personnel Securing Project promoted by the Kawanishi City Government. Unlike the conventional Goissho model, which features shared transportation services in the morning and evening, this initiative utilizes idle vehicles and drivers during daytime hours at full-day-type day services to undertake the daytime transportation operations at other half-day-type day services. It connects the issue of idle vehicles during daytime hours at full-day-type day services with the burden of daytime transportation at half-day-type day services, aiming to solve the issues of both parties. This marks the first case in Japan* of shared transportation services utilizing idle vehicles between nursing care service operators.

The Kawanishi City Government serves as the project operator, implementing the initiative from March 2 to 27, 2026, and the operation is led by Social Welfare Corporation Seiwakai, which provides full-day-type day services, and employed drivers of the corporation conduct transportation operations. Daihatsu supports the demonstration experiment as a whole, including establishing the operational framework and providing operational support. Three corporations and three facilities of half-day-type day services within the city participate in the demonstration experiment and conduct daytime transportation operations with three vehicles, and transportation of a total of approximately 300 people is planned. Through the demonstration experiment, the effectiveness of the shared transportation service suited to the issues of each region will be verified and the operational framework and business feasibility will be evaluated, advancing consideration for future official operation of the service.

Daihatsu will continue to help solve regional challenges in the area of welfare and nursing care and contribute to realizing a sustainable mobility society through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.
