[Notice] Daihatsu Employee Hideki Mizuhashi Awarded Medal with Yellow Ribbon in 2025 Spring Medals of Honor Decoration Ceremony

May. 12, 2025
DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) is pleased to announce that its employee, Hideki Mizuhashi, has been awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon.
The Medal with Yellow Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have devoted themselves to agriculture, commerce, and industry, and whose skills and achievements serve as public role models.

Many stamped parts are used in automobiles. When steel sheets are shaped using a press machine, distortions can occur due to the nature of plastic processing, which can result in shapes that differ from what was originally intended.
Hideki Mizuhashi joined Daihatsu in 1981. Since then, he has worked in die finishing for many years, fine-tuning dies to the micrometer level so that stamped parts can be processed to match the design drawings exactly. He created a database of these results and used them for simulation analysis, helping reduce die modifications (losses) during production preparation and stable quality.
Within the company, he established a system for passing these skills on to the next generation through the implementation of educational programs that cover everything from the basic skill to advanced application and hands-on education in repairing actual production dies. Outside the company, he has supported technical education in hard-to-teach experience-based skills such as metal build-up and precision finishing techniques. He has also served as a skills test examiner for die finishing work in both Osaka and Shiga prefectures. Through these efforts, he has worked to develop young talent and contributed to the growth of the industry.
Most recently, he has been actively promoting the fun of press die manufacturing and the importance of manufacturing through lectures about his own experiences and his passion as a craftsman, among other activities.
