Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.

Since the announcement of the results of the investigation by the Independent Third-Party Committee on December 20, 2023 and future actions regarding the procedural irregularities in certification application, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has been subjected to an on-site investigation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Today, we received an administrative disposition from the MLIT to revoke the Vehicle Type Approval of the following three models that were judged to be particularly serious among the irregularities that were discovered.

We have betrayed the trust of all our stakeholders including customers, and we would like to again convey our sincerest apologies for the great inconvenience that we have caused. Following the rectification order from the MLIT, we take seriously the fact that we have received an administrative disposition to revoke the Vehicle Type Approval. In addition to reviewing certification operations, with legal compliance as a major premise, we will work on reforms from the three perspectives of management, workplace climate and culture, and appropriate MONODUKURI and KOTODUKURI, and work to rebuild the company while receiving comprehensive support from Toyota.
We will promptly compile measures to prevent recurrence, report to MLIT within one month of receiving the rectification order, and report on the status of implementation on a quarterly basis.
