Daihatsu to Build a New Engine Plant in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) announced today that it will construct a new engine plant in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
The new engine plant is expected to start production in October 2008, to realize efficient supply of engines to Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. (DKC)* which plans to increase production of mini vehicles.
*DKC will start operation of its Oita Plant No.2 at the end of 2007.
The design concept of the new engine plant is “a 'simple and slim' plant best for mini-vehicles’ engine production.” The plant will supply engines to DKC that aims at further cost-efficient vehicle production to be globally competitive.
