Daihatsu Partially Upgrades Mira e:S Mini Passenger Car, Improving Fuel Economy and Safety Performance

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has partially upgraded the Mira e:S mini passenger car, with nationwide sales commencing on Thursday, August 27.

Launched in 2011, the Mira e:S pioneered a new category in the mini vehicle market as a “third eco-car,” pursuing excellent fuel economy, affordability, and resource efficiency. As the most basic model in Daihatsu’s mini passenger car lineup, it is widely used for purposes ranging from everyday transportation to business use.

For this partial upgrade, Daihatsu adopted a newly developed engine and ECU*1, improving fuel economy by approximately 8%*2 compared with the previous model. Maximum output and maximum torque have also been increased, achieving both excellent fuel economy and responsive acceleration.Safety performance has also been enhanced through the adoption of the latest Smart Assist preventive safety system*3, including improved detection capabilities for the collision-avoidance braking system and the addition of new functions. In conjunction with the partial upgrade, the grade lineup has been streamlined and simplified, and a new X “Limited” grade has been introduced.

<Changes to Key Specifications>

Actual fuel economy will vary according to the customer’s operating environment (weather, traffic congestion, etc.) and driving method (rapid acceleration, air-conditioner use, etc.). WLTC is an international driving mode composed of urban, suburban, and highway driving modes based on average usage-time proportions.

・Added nighttime pedestrian detection capability.

・Added brake control to the erroneous start suppression function.

- Added the Smart Drive Recorder Upgrade Package*5.

Added an upgrade package that utilizes the Smart Assist stereo camera as a drive recorder, enabling recording of driving footage.

<Additional Color Variations>

• Two popular colors, Ceramic Green Metallic and Grace Brown Crystal Mica, have been newly added.

<Revision of the grade lineup>

• A new X “Limited” grade has been introduced, adding the following equipment to the X grade to improve comfort and convenience:
Push-button start; seat heaters (driver/front passenger); driver’s seat lifter; tilt steering; automatic air conditioning (push-button type); key-free system with immobilizer (MLIT-approved) and request switches (driver/front passenger/back door); and automatic retractable door mirrors.
