Daihatsu Partially Upgrades Kei-Commercial Vehicles “Hijet Cargo” and “Atrai” and Enhances Safety

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) has partially upgraded the Hijet Cargo and Atrai, as well as special-purpose and welfare vehicles based on these models, and will launch them nationwide on June 4.

The Hijet Cargo has been widely used throughout Japan as a “working partner” for customers in a wide range of industries, particularly in the delivery business, from rural to urban areas. Its cumulative production has reached approximately 3.3 million units^*1. The Atrai, meanwhile, offers a spacious cargo area unique to commercial vehicles, along with passenger-car-like equipment and refined interior and exterior design, enabling use for a wide range of purposes.

This partial upgrade enhances safety by adding new detection functions to the Smart Assist^*2 active safety system, including detection of bicycles crossing the road, vehicles in the oncoming lane during right turns at intersections, and pedestrians crossing from the opposite direction when turning.
In addition, the Atrai adopts the “Active Multi Information Meter,” which features simple, refined, and highly
visible graphics, thereby enhancing its design appeal^*3.
Furthermore, for the Hijet Cargo, the popular “LED Package” has been made standard equipment on certain grades^*4.
