DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) will conduct a demonstration experiment for its Goissho shared nursing care transportation service in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture from August 1 to 30, 2024.

Daihatsu has been deploying the new mobility service Goissho in the area of welfare and nursing care as an initiative that aims to solve social issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population as well as regional revitalization. Goissho is a service that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and secure mobility for the elderly by improving efficiency through outsourcing and the shared operation of transportation services at multiple day-care facilities. The service was launched for local governments nationwide in April 2022, and is currently being used in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture.

Daihatsu conducted a study with Izumo City in 2023 regarding the effects of introducing a shared transportation service for the purpose of securing and retaining human resources at day-care facilities. Having studied the operational structure, preparations are now in place for the demonstration experiment, which is scheduled to begin today.
In this demonstration experiment, Izumo City will be responsible for primary operation, while Daihatsu will carry out work such as formulating operational flow and manuals as well as coordinating and negotiating with nursing care facilities and local transportation companies. Five corporations and seven facilities in the city will participate in this demonstration experiment, which will use five vehicles to provide morning and evening transportation services. A total of approximately 850 people are scheduled to be transported during the experiment period.

Daihatsu will use the results of this demonstration experiment to identify business issues, verify operational structure and business feasibility, and promote studies for the introduction of the service in the next fiscal year and beyond.

Daihatsu will continue to work on both MONODUKURI and KOTODUKURI to realize a mobility society that enriches the lives of customers through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.
