DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD.
Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) announced today that it is conducting a demonstration experiment of its Goissho shared nursing care transportation service in Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture from November 11 to December 13, 2024.
Daihatsu has been deploying the new mobility service Goissho in the area of welfare and nursing care as an initiative that aims to solve social issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population as well as contribute to regional revitalization. Goissho is a service that helps eliminate the shortage of care workers and secure mobility for the elderly by improving efficiency through outsourcing and the shared operation of transportation services at multiple day-care facilities. The service was launched for local governments nationwide in April 2022. Currently, Mitoyo City in Kagawa Prefecture and Yasu City in Shiga Prefecture are using the service, and other local governments are conducting demonstration experiments with a view to officially introducing it.
The shared transportation project at Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture—where the demonstration experiment is being conducted—has been selected as a day care center shared transportation project in the Project for Co-creation Model Demonstration under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Co-Creation and MaaS Demonstration Project for fiscal year 2024. Daihatsu is participating as a member of this shared transportation project. After investigating the effects and such of introducing shared transportation services aimed at securing and retaining care workers, studying the operation structure, and making preparations for the demonstration experiment, transportation operations commenced today.
In this demonstration experiment, Takahashi City Council of Social Welfare leads the operation, while Daihatsu supports the development of the operation structure—including the formulation of operational flows and manuals, training of drivers, and coordination and negotiation with nursing care facilities—and also provides the operation management system. Seven facilities under seven corporations in the city are participating in this experiment. Five vehicles will carry out transportation in the mornings and evenings, with a total of around 730 persons scheduled to be transported during the period of the demonstration experiment.
Going forward, the plan is to identify issues with the project based on the results of the demonstration experiment, followed by verifying the operation structure and business feasibility together with promoting studies toward introducing this service in or after the next fiscal year.
Daihatsu will continue to work on both MONODUKURI and KOTODUKURI to realize a mobility society that enriches the lives of customers through the provision of services, such as Goissho, that contribute to local communities.
