Notice Regarding the Operation of Domestic Plants in February and Resumption of Production and Shipment of Some Models (as of January 31)

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has made the following decisions regarding the resumption of production and shipment of some models starting in February.
Regarding the procedural irregularities in certification application, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced on January 19 that it has lifted its instruction to suspend shipments of five models such as the Toyota Probox, as it has been confirmed that the vehicles comply with the standards of the Road Transport Vehicle Act based on the result of testing with the certification authorities in attendance and other reasons.
In response to this announcement, we at first received much criticism and harsh feedback from customers, but as we have communicated with our customers, we have begun to receive harsh but also constructive feedback from those who say that our vehicles are necessary for their daily lives and work, and that they hope that we resume operations as soon as possible. We have therefore decided to resume production and shipment of the Toyota Probox and Mazda Familia Van as a result of feeling that customers’ expectations are continuing to increase and a comprehensive assessment of the readiness of suppliers.
In addition, when resuming shipments and production of the 10 models, such as the Daihatsu Mira e:S, which has been newly confirmed to comply with the standards, we will carefully check the situation of our customers and suppliers and make preparations to avoid confusion.
We will continue to stay close to the daily lives of our customers and take necessary measures such as performing testing with the certification authorities in attendance to fulfill our corporate social responsibilities.
