Daihatsu Commences Demonstration Project for Regional Consolidation of Pick-up and Delivery Services in the Field of Welfare and Nursing in Mitoyo City

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”) is conducting a demonstration project for next-generation mobility services in the field of welfare and nursing from November 2 to 30, 2020. The project is based on the three-party partnership agreement for regional consolidation of pick-up and delivery services in the field of welfare and nursing signed with Mitoyo City in Kagawa Prefecture and the Mitoyo City Council of Social Welfare on October 5, 2020.

1. Overview of demonstration project

(1) Regional consolidation of pick-up and delivery services

  • Overview
    Pick-up and delivery services being conducted individually for each day care facility will be consolidated and carried out through a body led by Mitoyo City Council of Social Welfare to demonstrate a model for shared pick-up and delivery services covering an entire region.
  • Target users
    A portion of the users of the day care facilities listed below. Around 600 passengers in total are expected.
  • Operation
    period and times From November 2 to 30, 2020 (except Sundays); operating times will be similar to the pick-up and delivery times of the day care facilities.
  • Usage fees: Free
  • Number of vehicles in operation: Four

(2) Mobility service for shopping and hospital visits (through telephone reservations made beforehand)

  • Overview
    Users will be ferried between their homes and destinations (for shopping, hospital visits, and other purposes) using the free time of pick-up and delivery vehicles.
  • Target users
    A portion of the users of the day care facilities listed below. Around 10 passengers in total are expected.
  • Operation
    period and times From November 16 to 30, 2020 (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only); between 10:30 and 14:30 (last departure).
  • Usage fees: Free
  • Number of vehicles in operation: One

2. Participating day care facilities (five facilities of four corporations)

Wafukai: Day Rehabilitation Center Hashimoto
Shinohara Clinic: Day Service Center Shinohara and Villa Shinohara
Hinomoto LLC: Hinomoto Day Service
Mitoyo City Council of Social Welfare: Saitacho Day Service Center

3. Expected results

  • This project uses the vehicles currently owned by the respective facilities. By consolidating the facilities’ overlapping pick-up and delivery routes, the project will reduce the economic and labor costs incurred for pick-up and delivery by the day care facilities and the region as a whole.
  • Data related to pick-up and delivery and its operation will be obtained through this system and utilized to optimize and reduce burden for the movement of elderly people.
