Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. partially upgraded the Hijet Truck and Hijet Cargo mini commercial vehicles and Atrai Wagon mini passenger vehicle. Nationwide sales are slated to start on August 27.
The Hijet mini commercial vehicle was launched in 1960, and since then, it has been cherished by customers working in a wide range of industries including agriculture, construction, transportation, and service. It is a popular model with cumulative production exceeding 7 million units.
The Hijet Truck was most recently fully redesigned in September 2014. The partial improvement in May 2018 added the Smart Assist IIIt crash avoidance system*1 to make the Hijet Truck the first mini commercial vehicle with such a system.*2 The Hijet Cargo is favored by customers for its usability and ease of loading and unloading. The current model is the 10th generation.
The Atrai Wagon is a mini passenger vehicle based on the Hijet Cargo. It is used for many different applications ranging from day-to-day activities to business and leisure. The Hijet Truck, Hijet Cargo, and Atrai Wagon are available in an extensive lineup of special purpose vehicles.
For these partial improvement,rear sonar and an erroneous start prevention function (rear side) *3 have been made standard on Hijet Truck models equipped with the Smart Assist IIIt crash avoidance system. In addition, special purpose Hijet Truck models will also be equipped with Smart Assist IIIt, a first for special purpose mini commercial vehicles,*4 providing safety and reassurance to an even wider range of customers.
Safety has been enhanced on the Hijet Truck, Hijet Cargo, and Atrai Wagon including making automatic lights standard. In addition, fuel efficiency levels has been changed to WLTC mode*5 in compliance with laws and regulations.
Based on its “Light you up” approach, going forward Daihatsu will continue to provide optimal mobility to every one of its customers, and cater to their needs via its extended range of mini vehicles and compact cars.
