Report on the Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. Plant Fire

Today at around 9:40 am, a fire occurred at Daihatsu Kyushu’s Oita (Nakatsu) Plant 1. We would like to offer our sincerest apologies to residents living in the neighborhood of the plant, and to the many other people we have worried or inconvenienced. We would also like to take this opportunity to report on the details we currently know.

The automated fire alarm was activated at approximately 9:40 am on March 14, 2019

Automated fire alarm is activated
The in-house fire-fighting team is dispatched

Nakatsu Fire Brigade and Nakatsu Police arrive; Nakatsu Fire Brigade commences fire-fighting operations
One person is injured and sent to hospital
14:26 pm
Fire is officially extinguished
4. Effects of fire
One person was injured, and is currently receiving treatment at hospital.
The fire did not spread to neighboring areas.
The extent of facility damage—including the area destroyed by fire—is currently unknown.
5. Causes of fire
At present, the causes of the fire are unknown.
Nakatsu Fire Brigade and Nakatsu Police are scheduled to conduct an inspection of the premises at 10 am tomorrow morning.
6. Effects on production
At present, the extent of damage caused by the fire is unknown; for this reason, we are still in the process of clarifying the effects on production.
7. Countermeasures
After the causes of the fire have been identified, we intend to implement countermeasures immediately.
We will issue a second report when points 5 to 7 above have been clarified or decided.
