Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has partially upgraded the Mebius*1 hybrid passenger car and will release it nationwide on Friday, December 1.

Launched in April 2013, the Mebius is a five-seater hybrid passenger car that is supplied to Daihatsu as an OEM vehicle by Toyota Motor Corporation. It has been praised for its outstanding fuel efficiency and its spacious and comfortable cabin.

As part of the partial upgrade, the Toyota Safety Sense P*2 advanced collision avoidance support package has been fitted to all Mebius grades as standard. Toyota Safety Sense P utilizes millimeter-wave radars and monocular cameras to provide outstanding safety through a variety of functions: pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering control function, automatic high-beam, and radar cruise control with brake control.

In addition, two new body colors—Dark Red Mica Metallic and Steel Blonde Metallic—are now available, resulting in a total of nine diverse color variations.

*1: “Mebius” is taken from “Möbius strip,” which symbolizes eternity. Daihatsu uses the term to represent sustainability and to signify a car with outstanding fuel efficiency, a spacious cabin, and which can be driven without limits.

*2: Toyota Safety Sense is a registered trademark of Toyota Motor Corporation
