Daihatsu Partially Upgrades Cast Mini Passenger Vehicle Equipped with Smart Assist III for improved safety, and featuring enhanced interior and exterior styling

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has partially upgraded the Cast mini passenger vehicle and will release it nationwide on Monday, October 4.

Launched in September 2015, Cast was developed to meets the demands of users who value individuality. It was based on the key concept of supplying people with options to freshen up their lives.. Cast models feature high quality with universally appealing design. In addition, Daihatsu successfully achieved affordable pricing by developing three CAST models—ACTIVA, STYLE, and SPORT—to meet the diversifying needs of users

With the latest improvements, Daihatsu has added the collision avoidance system, Smart Assist Ⅲ, ^*1 which also detects and engages emergency braking for pedestrians. In order to further enhance safety, the Cast comes equipped with the Panorama Monitor,^*2 which features four cameras facing forward, rear, left and right to project a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle onto the navigation screen.

The Activa and Style models feature redesigned front grilles. Meanwhile, new color variations have been added to all model line-ups, and the number of design film top*3 options has been increased. There have been changes to the interior, too: modifying the interior accent color specifications has enhanced the uniqueness of each vehicle, enabling customers to choose a car that suits them perfectly.

The “Prime Collection” grade, which had previously only been available as a special option for the Activa and Style, is now available as a standard grade. In addition, with the exception of certain grades, pricing is unchanged, meaning the Cast continues to be an exceptionally affordable mini car.

The “Panorama Monitor Camera” is available as a manufacturer option on the G Prime Collection SA Ⅲ, G Turbo Prime Collection SA Ⅲ, and Sports SA Ⅲ grades of the Activa and Style.
All grades require the “Panorama Monitor Navigation (8-inch or 7-inch)” dealer option to be installed.

<Safety Improvements>

• As part of its measures to reduce traffic accidents, the government is promoting the spread of “Safety Support Car S.”^*4 Vehicles equipped with Smart Assist Ⅲ fulfill the requirements for the “Wide” ^*4 ranking under this system.

• Utilizes the Panorama Monitor

<Enhanced interior and exterior styling>

CAST ACTIVA

• The front grille has been redesigned.

• Lemon Squash Crystal and Offbeat Khaki are now available as new body colors, for a total of seven colors and 19 patterns.

• An increase in the design film top options sees the addition of a number of new combinations: Deep Blue Crystal Mica x Black; Black Mica x White; Lemon Squash Crystal x Black; Lemon Squash Crystal x White; Offbeat Khaki x Black; and Offbeat Khaki x White.

• There have been changes to the interior accent colors, with the addition of Yellow and Khaki. For Prime Collection grades, body colors and Black can also be chosen.

• The meters have been redesigned, and the dials are now black. In addition, the dials only contain even numbers—this enables the size of the numbers to be increased for better visibility.

CAST STYLE

• The front grille has been redesigned,

• Dark Emerald Mica now available as a new body color, for a total of seven colors and 15 patterns

• An increase in the design film top options sees the addition of two new combinations: Light Rose Mica x White; and Dark Emerald Mica x White.

• There have been changes to the interior accent colors, with the interior color for Prime Collection grades switching from White to Brown. Silver is the standard color on all other grades; however, Burgundy is available as a manufacturer option.

• The seats on the Prime Collection grades have been changed to Synthetic Leather Black for both the Activa and Sport.

• The font of numbers used on the meters has been changed.

CAST SPORT

• Bright Silver is now available as a new body color, for a total of three colors and six patterns (when Bright Silver is chosen as the body color, only Black can be selected for the Design Film Top).

• Even when choosing a single body color, the rear quarter panels and door mirrors are available in Shining Red as a manufacturer option.

• The meter needles and memory parts are now red to enhance the sporty sensation of the interior. In addition, the dials only contain even numbers—this enables the size of the numbers to be increased for better visibility.

<Changes to equipment>

• Driver seat lifts and tilted steering wheels are equipped on all grades as standard

• The Genuine Navigation Equipment Upgrade Pack is equipped to the Sport model as standard

• Some manufacturer options have been changed

*4: Vehicles equipped with automatic braking are defined as Safety Support Cars, and vehicles additionally equipped with acceleration control devices for when the accelerator pedal is pressed by accident are defined as Safety Support Car S, in a bid to promote their spread. According to the functions equipped, Safety Support Car Ss are awarded one of three ranks. The top ranking of “Wide” is given to vehicles equipped with automatic braking (with pedestrian detection function), acceleration control devices for misapplication of the accelerator pedal, lane departure warning, and advanced lighting.
