Astra Daihatsu Motor Holds Grand Opening Research & Development Center and 5 Million Units Production Achievement Ceremony

On April 10, P.T. Astra Daihatsu Motor (hereinafter “ADM”), an Indonesia-based subsidiary of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Daihatsu”), held a ceremony to commemorate the completion of construction of the test course at its R&D center, which had been under construction since 2011, and 5 million units production achievement. Attending the ceremony was Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Industry, the Republic of Indonesia.

The R&D center is located within the premises of the Karawang Assembly Plant, ADM’s vehicle manufacturing plant in the Suryacipta City of Industry in Karawang, West Jawa, Indonesia. The R&D Styling Building, Design Experiment Building and some parts of the test course are already in operation. The construction of the R&D center finished with the completion of construction for the entire test course, including a circuit track. Astra Daihatsu Motor is the first vehicle manufacturer to achieve 5 million units production in Indonesia*1.

As a company with strong roots in Indonesia, through the R&D center Daihatsu will focus more on the strengthening of its local R&D function, local procurement of parts and training of local human resources. Daihatsu will accelerate efforts to bring customer oriented affordable good quality vehicle speedily and contribute to as one of the export base of Toyota Group.
