DAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. (Daihatsu) and Perodua, Daihatsu's joint venture vehicle manufacture and sales company in Selangor, Malaysia, today announced the fully redesign of a compact car the Myvi. An event to mark the launch of the new vehicle was held in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of June16.

Perodua, Malaysia's second national auto manufacturer, has been expanding its lineup of compact cars, among other products, to hold the largest market share in the Malaysian market for five consecutive years. The Myvi is a compact car jointly developed in May 2005 by Perodua and DAIHATSU on the basis of the Boon, a compact passenger vehicle sold in Japan. The Myvi is popular among a wide range of users across multiple generations. Based on the new Boon released in Japan in February 2010, the fully redesigned Myvi adopts dedicated interior and exterior designs that meet the needs of the Malaysian car market and carries a new displacement to achieve enhanced fuel efficiency and safety performance. The monthly sales target is 5,600 units and the manufacturer's suggested retail prices range between 43,900 MYR and 57,800 MYR (approximately 1.17 to 1.54 million yen)

Main improved features of the new Myvi:

  1. A sophisticated progressive style perfectly matched with the Malaysian market
  2. An engine displacement in response to market needs (by retaining the 1.3L model while withdrawing the 1.0L model)
  3. Enhanced fuel efficiency
  4. Enhanced safety performance (driver and front passenger airbags for all models)
