Daihatsu Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu), constructs a new plant within the site of its Oita (Nakatsu) Plant. The existing Oita (Nakatsu) Plant has been in operation since December 2004.
Underlying the construction of Oita (Nakatsu) Plant No. 2 is the pressing need to expand production capacity, which has been seen at the existing plant as well as at all other plants in Japan. By adding a new plant, Daihatsu aims to normalize the workloads at these plants.
The design concept for Oita (Nakatsu) Plant No. 2 is “a ‘simple and slim’ plant that empowers Daihatsu to further increase the efficiency of mini vehicle production.” Daihatsu considers Oita (Nakatsu) Plant No. 2 to be a model for cost-effective car manufacturing. The company plans to use the cost-saving manufacturing expertise accumulated at the new plant to improve its manufacturing bases all around the world.
