New Technical License Agreement to Produce a Small MPV in China

On 31 October, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) and FAW Jilin Automobile Co., Ltd. (FAW Jilin Auto) signed a Technical License Agreement and other contracts.

This Technical License Agreement provides for the granting of a technical license by Daihatsu to FAW Jilin Auto. The vehicle to be produced under the agreement will be newly developed for the Chinese market. The base model is the small multi-purpose vehicle jointly developed by Toyota Motor Corporation and Daihatsu. The initial production volume is planned to be 30,000 vehicles per year, and production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2007. The vehicle will be distributed under the Daihatsu brand.
