Keeping People Safe

Small is safety conscious.

There is nothing more important than a sense of security when you are on the road. So Daihatsu designs its vehicles to be safe. That means "active safety" -- developing technologies that prevent accidents. And also "passive safety" -- innovating technologies that help protect against injury if an accident occurs.

Active Safety

We test and test -- and test again. Our next generation R&D takes advantage of a comprehensive range of advanced technologies and facilities including computer simulations and test courses. The results? Achievements such as the Vehicle Stability Control system which prevents drive wheel slippage when starting or accelerating. And our Advanced Safety Vehicle System which incorporates radar cruise control and various collision prevention innovations.

Passive Safety

Daihatsu vehicles undergo the toughest testing imaginable. As a result, our cars easily meet the strictest collision safety standards in Japan and Europe. We design car bodies taking into account every possible accident scenario. And we conduct realistic collision testing to make sure that our vehicles really can protect their occupants -- and even pedestrians in event of an accident.
