People Friendly Vehicles and ITS

Small is friendly

Daihatsu cars are people friendly -- they are for everyone -- including children, older people, and the physically challenged. They incorporate the universal design concept so they are comfortable for people of any age and easy to enter and exit despite their size. They are also easily adaptable to meet the needs of people with special difficulties. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies improve traffic safety, convenience and efficiency and help resolve environmental issues using information systems that provide automated solutions for a range of driver issues.

Special Needs

In many respects, smaller vehicles offer advantages in meeting the needs of a wider range of people. Daihatsu recognized this fact early on. In 1979 we produced our first vehicles equipped to assist drivers with physical disabilities. We went on to develop special driver seats for people who use wheelchairs. And nowadays in dealerships nationwide you will find a wide range of special models available to meet special requirements and make it possible for people with physical difficulties to drive without help.

Town ITS

Our technologically advanced Town ITS concept, developed in cooperation with various research organizations and governmental bodies, aims at "intelligent" vehicles that are easier and more enjoyable to drive, meet a wider range of individual lifestyle needs and are more efficient and environmentally friendly.
