The Environment

A Commitment to the Earth

Small is heartiness

Daihatsu's cars are enjoyable and fun to drive. They are always convenient and save space. But from a global perspective, the biggest thing that these smaller cars have going for them is the much reduced burden they impose on a world threatened by environmental disaster. Daihatsu has invested a lot of effort into making sure that its compact vehicles save fuel and resources, emit fewer pollutants and are easier to recycle. Daihatsu's environmental standards are high and the company is committed to ongoing improvements.

Cleaner Engines

Smaller cars naturally produce less CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Daihatsu builds upon this inherent advantage by developing cleaner burning, more fuel efficient engines using advanced, proprietary technologies such as its "Intelligent Catalyst" and "Catalyst Early Activation System". We have also been working on the development of "clean energy vehicles" such as EV, HV, and fuel cell vehicles for a long time.

Cleaner Manufacturing

Daihatsu is working to make its manufacturing facilities more environmentally friendly. Our goal is not just to meet regional and international regulations and standards but, if possible, to surpass them. That means slashing emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases and eliminating the release of effluent and airborne pollutants into the environment. We are also developing new and better ways to cut industrial waste and to achieve zero landfill at all our plants.

An Environmental Dealership Network

Daihatsu's dealerships help tackle environmental issues. In Japan, for example, there is now a law that requires vehicles to be recycled at the end of their lives. Daihatsu's nationwide network of dealerships work with customers so they understand the requirements of the law and the necessity of scrapping vehicles properly.
