It's been a long time since a rugged, off-road 4WD seemed out of place cruising along ordinary roads. But, as with a sports car, what hasn't changed is that this type of vehicle still has many elements that drivers find exhilarating. The SP-4 is a new type of off-road 4WD in which these elements have been taken half a step into the future. A strong, modern design and outstanding power performance with enough room to seat four in comfort, all of those are packaged in a light car size, making this a new concept for the 21st century.

The squareness of the body is accentuated by discharge headlamps offering excellent visibility and width is emphasized by a narrower front. The SP-4 presents a sturdy, innovative exterior appearance, with stable-looking trapezoidal module front doors, the bumper, wheel protectors, the locker protector, and basket-shaped side panels all clearly describing the lines of the frame. As for the interior, the instrument panel is given an aluminum-like finish complementing the car's futuristic image. The panel was also designed to be highly water-resistant. The driver information display, located at the top of the instrument panel center, is retractable and the drive-function switches are laid out inside the instrument panel center in a manner which offers both functionality and operational fun.

The design creates a roomy interior equipped with various functions inside a package 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,645 (±50) mm high. The front seat, which can be reclined to a fully-flat position, has a 50-mm vertical adjustment stroke and a longitudinal adjustment stroke. There is an ottoman to rest the feet on when the seat is reclined. The result is a seating comfort and amenities on a par with those on a first-class flight, giving a high degree of comfort and convenience whether driving or taking a nap. The rear seats can be folded down flat, creating a large luggage space.

The SP-4 has a ±50 mm front-back, right-left vehicle height adjustment function, and bumpers shaped to stay clear of the ground. The result is a high ground damage angle and minimum ground clearance. With its full-time, Hi-Lo switchable 4WD and large 175/80R16 tires, the SP-4 delivers an outstanding ride. For improved repairability, the front and rear bumpers are interchangeable, as are the diagonally opposed tire housing protectors. The engine is a twin-cam three-cylinder 12-Valve turbo charged capable of allowing the car to deliver its full potential. The SP-4 has more safety by using a crash-safety body<TAF> and DVS(ABS,traction control system,side-slip control)
