length:3,395mm/width:1,475mm/height:1,875mm/occupancy:2(4) persons

Daihatsu has created the first practical hybrid commercial minivehicle, with the goal of a more harmonious relationship between commercial minivehicles, which support logistics and industrial activities, and the global environment. Since October 2002, Daihatsu has been monitoring the use of the new hybrid minivehicle in collaboration with government offices and several companies. Based on data derived from such actual use, Daihatsu has progressed in development toward commercialization. This hybrid system uses one electric motor and improves fuel efficiency by better than 30% compared to its gasoline-only counterpart, achieving reduction of emissions equivalent to 75% below Japan's 2005 regulations.

* Daihatsu made the first practicable hybrid commercial minivehicle in 2002, and has evaluated the vehicle in a monitoring program on public roads in preparation for a planned market launch.

DMHS* Drive Train

This simple, single-motor hybrid system configuration features a thin electric motor mounted between a 660cc 3-cylinder gasoline engine and an electronically controlled automatic transmission system. A nickel-hydride battery stores energy regenerated during deceleration, which is applied to the motor to assist the engine as needed.
