These days, with almost all the world's major automobile manufacturers producing compact cars, it is becoming more popular than the past to have compact car model in the lineup. So what differentiates Daihatsu from all the other companies that are also making compact cars? In essence, the answer can be summed up in a single word — Faith.

At Daihatsu, we aren't making compact cars out of a desire to be fashionable. We're doing it, as we have been for decades past, because of an unchangeable faith for creating best compact car that has motivated our company ever since we started making automobiles. To put it simply, we believe that compact car is best vehicle in all aspects. That's why we specialize in making compact cars. All our accumulated technologies and know-how have been honed towards the achievement of a single goal — to bring happiness to people's life through creating superior compact cars.

The new Cuore, which we are proud to be unveiling at this year's Geneva Motor Show, is a superb new product that embodies our most up-to-date compact-car technologies and know-how.

The original Cuore's "1.5-box" styling concept has attracted a lot of customers since its introduction and gone on to set the standard for other small cars of its class. While retaining the basic idea behind the "1.5-box" concept, the new Cuore offers much more than people would normally expect from the word "1.5-box". For example, we've managed to maximize the Cuore's cabin with compact body while building in the highest quality for comfortable drive. Moving on to the exterior, the drag coefficient of 0.31 says it all. This car is highly aerodynamic and stunningly beautiful. The utility value of the new Cuore is well exemplified by the doors that open out to an angle of about 90°, allowing you to get into the car, drive it and get out again with unexpected ease and grace. Thanks to its advanced engine, the Cuore is also a genuine pleasure to drive, and all this joy of driving comes at surprisingly little cost to either the driver or the environment. Also, because road safety has always been one of Daihatsu's paramount concerns, we've worked extra hard to equip new Cuore with the highest level of safety in same segment. And when we say "safety" we don't just mean the safety of the occupants but also of pedestrians in the event that the car is involved in an accident.

You may be wondering, "Daihatsu may be a compact-car specialist". It may excel at packaging class-above interior spaces and performance into compact bodies. "But what about emotion?" In short, can Daihatsu make a car that wins the hearts of car lovers?

Well, we've brought along a specimen of our emotion car to let car lovers judge for themselves. It's called the "Copen", a two-seater convertible roadster with an active top which opens and closes automatically. This car is fun to drive, a pleasure to operate and a great joy to show off. But that's not all. Amazingly, the Copen isn't a mass production car but an expert-assembled model that's put together a unit at a time by Daihatsu's expert craftsmen. In today's automated assembly line-dominated world, we think you'll agree that a car like this has a real emotional impact.

At Daihatsu, we're committed to making compact, easy-to-use and comfortable cars that are also fun to drive and easy on the environment. Because, after all, compact cars are our business. But more than this, we believe that compact car is the best match with customer satisfaction and environmental friend.
