I'm very pleased to see so many people here. Thank you very much for visiting the Daihatsu Stand, and please allow me to say a few words of greeting.

Founded in 1907, Daihatsu Motor has the longest history of any car maker in Japan. We're known as a specialist of small vehicles, and last year alone we produced 950,000 vehicles worldwide.

With today's increasing awareness of environmental problems on a world scale, the decreasing number of children and the aging society in the developed countries, and increasing consumer demands in respect of "value for money", we believe the popularity of small cars can only increase in the future. Through our experience of developing various types of small vehicles, we have accumulated expertise of a quality that only a specialist maker can lay claim to. In the coming years, you will witness the appearance of wonderful new models one after another that take advantage of our small-car production expertise.

Since the beginning of this year, we have already introduced three original new products in the world market; these are the Move and Gran Move-both mini-wagons-and a new type of 4x4 vehicle, the Terios, which combines the characteristics of the 4x4 with a refined behaviour that matches urban settings.

Today, at this Frankfurt Motor Show, I am particularly happy to be able to unveil a new concept car, the NCX, which embodies the best of our small-car technologies.

The NCX is being developed as a high-quality city car, and is targeted at the new generation of small car users who will be enthusiastic adherents of the emerging style of motoring in the city.

Being small and economical alone are no longer sufficient criteria for making a modern car attractive. In order for a small car to be attractive, it must also provide sufficient performance, interior space, comfort and safety that can stand comparison with upper-class cars. In addition, an innovative style that expresses the user's lifestyle and taste is increasingly important.

These are the points we took to heart in creating the concept of the NCX. We are confident that it will be accepted as a new-generation city car in the European market as well.

At Daihatsu, we are committed to the development and production of small vehicles that satisfy the needs of contemporary car users, and we are working hard to meet the demands of society in respect of energy saving, safety and environmental protection and so on. We appreciate your kind support.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.
